ARTICLE WORD MASHUP - THEORY

DATA COLLECTION
Vedas design references the region’s vernacular architecture with buildings that feature distinctively sloped roofs.according to the design team, these canopies have been used to create ‘an exclusive and hermetic hospitality experience that roots deeply in the local culture’. this style of architecture is common in lingnan, a geographic area that encompasses land to the south of china’s nanling mountains. The design is a response to the local climate, facilitating the draining of rainwater while simultaneously protecting the structure from being damaged by tropical cyclones. ‘the design expresses the beautiful, traditional gable roof and decorative ridge with a contemporary touch while paying homage to the lingnan culture,’ say the architects.

adhering to the listed legislations on the existing house and streetscape in melbourne, ‘the leaf house’ is a residential extension featuring an angled glass scheme that blurs the lines between the roof and walls. serving as a new living, dining and kitchen area linking to the existing heritage house already on site, the extension continually enhances the visual connection with the garden at both levels. From the streetscape, only glimpses of the angular roof top of the extension can be seen. the project  resulted in a bold volume that is abstracted from existing roof forms to link the two buildings. the architects were sympathetic to the heritage dwelling and the surrounding streetscape by establishing the low-rise corten roof made of triangles, the angled scheme seemingly folds down over a glass volume that in turn, houses the new communal areas.

dutch studio mecanoo has revealed its competition entry for a major cultural complex in shenzhen, china — a proposal which came third in the contest out of 69 entries. surrounded by residential towers and infrastructure, the site for the ‘bao’an public culture and art center’ presented several challenges. the design team’s response was to take inspiration from the nearby metro station, which also manages large flows of people.Externally, the building takes the shape of a cube, which has been elevated to create a public square and sculpture garden. meanwhile, a stepped landscape complete with sports fields connects the complex to a nearby school. internally, different functions are organized around a central void which doubles as an exhibition space for large art installations. openings in the volume allow for balconies that offer views across the city.

mecanoo's scheme seeks to attract visitors in an attempt to ‘reinvent the inwardly focused identity’ of the region’s cultural facilities. access to the museum has been combined with the entrance to the station, resulting in an inviting and welcoming public space. ‘combining the museum entrance with the entrance of the metro station generates an inviting and open urban node with a powerful capacity to diffuse art throughout the community,’ say the architects.

the building takes the form of an elevated cube

externally, the building takes the shape of a cube, which has been elevated to create a public square and sculpture garden. meanwhile, a stepped landscape complete with sports fields connects the complex to a nearby school. internally, different functions are organized around a central void which doubles as an exhibition space for large art installations. openings in the volume allow for balconies that offer views across the city.

(CONCEPT)new sentence to create a distinctive and significant theory:

The pile up of the cubes construct the distinguish and clear spacial functions to separate the public and private area powerfully and enhance the functionality and identity.

3 TEXTURE CHOOSING:

The theme of this texture is rotation, it is like a radiation rotate from the middle centre point to the around area, cause a feeling about the movement,. I put this texture over the exteded corner because I want to represent the feeling of the movement and extension,

The main theme of this texture is organic and natural, it looks like abstractive birds, the creature also could create the feeling of the movement among it. I put this texture among the bridge  is because the bridge is tie up in the sky and I want to repredent the feeling of fly and flowing.

The theme of this texture is rythm. It looks like the flowing ribbon connected to each other and keep the rythm continueing, represent the movement directly. I put the texture on the columns of the lecture theatre, this colum raise the huge glass glazing up, could could make a feeling of raising.

MOVING ELEMENT

No.1:

This moving element is the shading of moving shutter window of the lecture theatre.

No.2:

This moving element is the regular cubes widows , they got diefferent but logical sizes to represent t he scalar movement .

SUBMISSION 2

CLIENTS: Kazuyo Sejima and Oscar Niemeyer

Kazuyo Sejima:
Zollverein School of Management and Design, Essen, Germany - 2006.

Five concepts for Kazuyo Sejima:
  • Geometry highlights the stability of the building.
  • The regular shape of windows is irregularly scattered on the walls to make the whole outfit interesting.
  • The blue glass and white walls embody the pure colors with architectural ideas.
  • The clever use of the numbers of windows allows the light to enter the building and reflect the shadow of geometry at the same time.
  • The different scales of the squares of the windows represents the fluidity and the aesthetic.

Oscar Niemeyer:
International Fair of Tripoli

Five concepts for Oscar Niemeyer:

  • The simple image is impressive and symbolic, represent the 'less is more' concept of modernism.
  • The shape of the arch bridge increases the height of the space and divide the road into two sites.
  • The curve embodies an extension of the role, leading the people's attention, want to touch the sky.
  • The stone material illustrates that even the structure seems unstable but it still gets the strength.
  • The extremely height and the thin and fragile structure reveal the simultaneous hints of progress and crisis, and of imagination and ruin.

18 sketches:

36 textures:

3 textures in the model:

This texture I have Oscar's architectural structure as a inspiration, the whole pattern is divided into two symmetrical spaces, while showing a sense of outward extension. At the same time Oscar building because of the existence of independent, to guide people's attention. The color is very shallow, only lines, but also reflects his independence.

This texture is a very typical pattern showing the size change and rhythm. Combined with different sizes of windows, ,smart display of the designer' philosophy. The use os simple geometric graphics to reduce and change in a space of irregularity, showing very interesting and impressive features, simple but logical.

This texture is scattered from the center point like a rotating windmill, showing the rhythm of the Oscar's work and the extension of the central idea. With the stripes, the pattern becomes very deep, I put it on the elevator, people have Kind of walking up and extended feeling, reflecting the Oh Scarlett design concept.
